We each have our own distinctive beauty, one that deserves admiration. Society often imposes a standardized mold upon us, attempting to fit everyone in a single box. However, we are all wonderfully diverse and such confinement does not accommodate us. Without uniqueness and authenticity, we would all be the same and that would be a terrible and dull world. Embracing and embodying your truth is one of the most wonderful things about being human. “The River” is both a plea, but also a gentle reminder. This is precisely why songwriting and art hold such an incredible power in my life. On certain days, I immerse myself in its melodies, pressing play to encounter my personal reminder, “The River”. It grounds and guides me back to my true self, to embrace my authenticity. I hope that this song has a similar effect on you, serving a reminder that YOUR BEAUTY BELONGS.
lyrics
Every little part of me is saying so
To move on we are to guide and let it be known
Should I be more of a dream in this life of my own
Well I’m caught between the rocks of this river's waters that flow
When you find yourself lost in this wild, wild world
Detach and come on back home
Where your beauty belongs
It belongs, belongs, belongs
Can’t you see
Should I be more like the river
Slow with cascading tides
Should I be more like the river, baby
Wild flowers bloom by her side
Attempt to drown me in your wrong
No you won't
Us sisters will fight for our souls
This game of chess that you play, well you got no more moves to go
Cause know we know
Should I be more like the river
Slow with cascading tides
Should I be more like the river, baby
Wild flowers bloom by her side
Should I
Should I
Should I be more like the river
Should I
Should I
Should I be more like her
Well you know where to find me
By the river my reflection is purely me
And I am a dream in this life of my own
For now I see

The River was recorded in September 2022 out in the beautiful Gold Coast countryside at Easy Machine Records, a small solar powered cabin owned and run by local music legend and producer, JB Paterson. The structural instruments are performed by Demi’s band members, Michael Grinstead on the bass guitar and Andrew Yeldham on the drums. Jack Paterson added flavour to the track by performing piano and slide guitar. Acoustic guitar and vocals performed by Demi Casha. Mastered by Paul Blakey, mixed by PB Paterson and written by Demi Casha.
An electrifying psychedelic folk singer/songwriter with a resonance that far exceeds her years, Demi Casha’s particular
brand of gum tree rock is quickly establishing her as one of Australia’s most exciting, emerging artists. Whether solo or performing with her band, this is one live music experience you do not want to miss....more
